A great hands-on learning moment with 2 of our trainee Engineers.
attended a container vessel in Limassol Port to investigate an MF/HF performance issue on the NSR NHR-1500.
Initial symptoms showed VSWR NG despite the tuner reporting OK — a classic case where deeper RF fundamentals matter.
On inspection, the root cause became clear: inadequate RF grounding at the antenna coupler. A timely reminder that in MF/HF systems, grounding quality is absolutely critical to proper antenna matching and overall transmission efficiency.
It was also a valuable field learning opportunity for our team alongside our Technical Manager, with our trainees George (19) and Michael (16), gaining first-hand exposure to real-world troubleshooting, structured fault finding, and the importance of not stopping at the first “looks OK” check.
These are the moments where future engineers are shaped — not in classrooms, but out in the field with live systems, real faults, and disciplined diagnostic thinking.
